Diane and Richard “Ricky” Smookler have been fixtures in the St. Paul Jewish community for decades. Both born in the Twin Cities, they didn’t meet until studying at the University of Bologna, Italy. St. Paul has been their home for 45 years and their service, dedication, and support of many Jewish organizations runs deep.
Recently, the Star Tribune ran a series called “Aging Parents, Stressed Families,” that detailed the realities of friend and family caregivers; the frustration, the exhaustion, the personal cost, and ultimately the fact that most of us will at some point be in this position.
On May 3, the Dakota County Healthy Communities Collaborative hosted Living Longer: The Power and Possibilities of Aging and the Arts.
