Community Chaplaincy

Community Chaplaincy

Contact Rabbi Lynn Liberman, Community Chaplain, (651) 434-4112.

If you are struggling with life challenges, feel overwhelmed and long for a spiritual connection, our Community Chaplaincy Program can provide compassionate spiritual guidance and care.

The JFS Community Chaplaincy Program delivers spiritual guidance, ritual observance and a listening presence to individuals and families in their homes and care settings or other settings as needed. It provides renewed meaning and hope to those coping with illness, loneliness, disability, end-of-life issues and other life struggles. The program helps unaffiliated and marginalized Jews connect with the Jewish community or simply reconnect with their Jewishness.

Advance Care Planning

Rabbi Liberman is trained as a certified Honoring Choices facilitator, the most common advance care planning tool used in Minnesota. She is available to meet with individuals and families to simply facilitate conversations and/or help individuals complete an Honoring Choices document or any advanced care planning document. This service is available on a sliding fee scale. No one will be turned away because of inability to pay.

Who We Serve

Our Chaplaincy Staff

The Chaplaincy team is led by Rabbi Lynn Liberman, Board Certified Chaplain. She is assisted by specially trained spiritual care volunteers in the para-chaplaincy program. Rabbi Liberman is certified by the Neshama Association of Jewish Chaplains, a professional recognition of her skills in spiritual care.

Rabbi Liberman is a Board-Certified Chaplain (BCC). In addition to her rabbinical training and ordination, she has completed a year of supervised residency training followed by 2,000 hours of field work. She was also required to demonstrate her competency in more than 30 areas of practice and knowledge before a board to receive this certification.

Rabbi Liberman has been a Melton Ethics instructor for the past several years. She also serves on the Ethics Committee for Children’s Hospital of Minnesota. Prior to her work as JFS Community Chaplain, Rabbi Liberman worked for seven years as a hospice chaplain and continues to work as a per diem chaplain at Regions Hospital, a Level 1 trauma hospital, and for MHealth Fairview.
