Community Connections Participants to Visit Arboretum

JFS will offer a Minnesota Arboretum Tram Tour on Thursday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. through Community Connections, a program funded by a grant from the Jewish Federations of North American (JFNA) Center on Holocaust Survivor Care and Institute on Aging and Trauma. The narrated tram tour on Three-Mile Drive highlights the Arboretum’s varied collections, display gardens and Farm at the Arb.

Community Connections provides group socialization opportunities and community resources to elderly Russian speakers in the East Metro who have experienced trauma, many of whom are Holocaust survivors. The goal of the program is to reduce social isolation in this group who often experiences significant cultural and linguistic barriers to supportive services. Outings to a variety of metro attractions including theater, art and music will be offered as well as social and dining gatherings.

Participation is free. Contact JFS Community Connections Coordination Adel Kuychyk at (651) 248-3885 to register.
