Tickets Now on Sale for the 2024 Celebration of Service
Tickets are now on sale for the 8th annual Celebration of Service to benefit Jewish Family Service of St. Paul to be held on Sunday, May 19, at Mendakota Country Club in Mendota Heights. During this year’s event, JFS will honor volunteer Jim Scheib with the Community Service Award, renamed this year to the Anita and Jim Dinerstein Community Service Award in honor of an endowment made by the couples’ daughters Rachel Geballe and Ellen Werlin who will be at the Celebration to honor their parents and present the award. During 2023, Jim donated more than 254 hours of volunteer service.
This year’s event will be hosted by former JFS board member Bruce Goodman. He has made an inspiring lead gift of $10,000 to support all JFS services that benefit Holocaust survivors. The dinner table for several Holocaust survivors who are joining the Celebration is being underwritten in honor of the Bruce Goodman Read in Color Little Free Library at JFS.
Additional host committee members include Linda Alter, Tom Cytron-Hysom, Deb and Tom Frishberg, Lucy Kanson and Jay Benanav, Susan and Dan Levey, Stephen Levin, Annie and Bruce Matza, Lynne and Stuart Sanders, and Kate Searls and Dan Rybeck. Cocktails begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m. Dinner choices include grilled Atlantic salmon with bourbon gastrique, medley of Wild Rice and Green Bean Almondine (GF/DF); grilled seasonal vegetables over saffron rice with balsamic glaze (Vegan/GF/DF); parmesan breaded eggplant, mozzarella, marinara over chef’s choice pasta; or a kosher meal. A live auction will follow dinner with exciting items including a six-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne in Miami, a Moroccan dinner, VIP Minnesota Vikings tickets and fine art and jewelry. Please continue to check the event page for updates and to purchase your tickets by May 6.
