JFS Represented on Advocacy Committee

Earlier this month, representatives of JFS and Mount Zion Temple met with United States Congresswoman Betty McCollum in support of federal legislation relating to food insecurity issues, including re-authorization of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps. This advocacy initiative is organized by MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger.

JFS became involved in this effort because of the JFS advocacy committee’s involvement with the joint JFS/JFCS advocacy committee. Meetings with both US senators and other metro congressional representatives will take place this month as well.

JFS board member, past board president and liaison to the JFCS joint advocacy committee Mitzi Gramling is a member of the committee, representing JFS.
