5th Annual Celebration of Service to Honor Barry and Rena Glaser

JFS announces the honorees for the 5th Annual Celebration of Service on Thursday May 13, 2021, from 7:00 to 7:30PM. The event can be accessed here and will stream live on the JFS Facebook page.

Rena and Barry Glaser will receive the Community Service Award for their outstanding, ongoing commitment to JFS and the community. In their various roles as officers, board members, volunteers, program innovators, advocates and donors, Barry and Rena have worked diligently to improve the lives of individuals and families in our community who rely upon JFS’s critical programs and services.

In 2007, Rena and Barry established the Glaser Senior Service Fund. This permanently endowed fund helps provide case management, Holocaust Survivor support, Kosher Meals on Wheels, Program to Encourage Active and Rewarding Lives (PEARLS) and caregiver services and support for senior clients.

The Glasers have given generously of their time and talents to a variety of Jewish organizations through the years. Rena has worked with the St. Paul JCC (now Minnesota JCC), Hadassah, National Council of Jewish Women, Sholom and Talmud Torah. Barry has given countless hours to the St. Paul JCC, Talmud Torah and United Jewish Fund and Council (now Jewish Federation of St Paul).

Rena and Barry have two sons, David and Joel. David and his wife Theresa of St. Paul have two children: Zach, a freshman at Carleton College, and Zoe, a sophomore at Highland Park Senior High School. Joel has one daughter Sarah, a senior at Kansas University. He lives in St. Paul with his partner Jethra Kapp.

The accomplishments of our honorees serve as inspiration for the Celebration of Service fundraising goals. All proceeds raised will benefit essential JFS programs focused on services for seniors.
