Send Cards and Greetings to Isolated Elders

The Compassion Museum

We have launched a new volunteer opportunity through a partnership with The Compassion Museum (TCM) to reach out to isolated elders through telephone visits. Eight JFS volunteers have already committed to participate in their Card Campaign  — a simple, yet powerful way for you to make an impact on the lives of vulnerable community members who are lonely and confused during these extraordinary times. This is aligned with the JFS Volunteer Services mission to improve the lives of others, to engage volunteers in meaningful and fulfilling experiences, to build community through agency partnerships, and to demonstrate our Jewish values by promoting spiritual health and mental wellness.

We can all support this important work by helping TCM distribute joyful postcards, letters and artwork to individuals in three local senior care facilities; as well as notes of thanks and encouragement to essential workers at those facilities. There are two ways to participate, and both only require your own creativity, kind words and access to a mailbox! You may opt to create or re-purpose at least 5 cards/ notes/ letters within a two-week period, send them in bulk to TCM, and let them take it from there! Another way to participate is to write an electronic message that TCM prints out and distributes.

If you are interested in joining the JFS cohort that is making an impact on those in need through these simple activities, please contact Margie Solomon, Volunteer Engagement Specialist, to volunteer. You can reach Margie at msolomon@jfssp.org, or by calling her at (651) 690-8907.
