Variety Show Includes Comedy and Music

JFS-ON-A-SCHTICK

JFS is hosting JFS-ON-A-SCHTICK Variety Show on Wednesday, August 26 at 7PM on Zoom.

“We wanted to do something to connect with each other and thank everyone who has supported JFS during this extraordinary year,” said Ruth Olkon, JFS CEO. “And since this event will happen during the time we usually enjoy the state fair, we put our show on a ‘schtick’ and are making it available to anyone who’d like to join us.”

The show will feature comedienne, actress and writer Jackie Kashian, a national touring comic for more than 25 years. Her current critically acclaimed album, “I Am Not the Hero of This Story,” was the number one comedy album on iTunes and Amazon. She is in the thirteenth year of her podcast “The Dork Forest,” where she talks with people about what they love to do, think about and collect. She also has a podcast with Laurie Kilmartin, “The Jackie and Laurie Show,” where they complain and celebrate stand-up comedy.

The Twin Cities own Sandy Atlas will also present his newly written song, “Never Thought,” produced by Allan Block. The song laments the changes brought on by COVID. Atlas has been composing and performing throughout the metro at entertainment spots, country clubs and private parties for nearly 60 years.

As recently seen on “America’s Got Talent,” Gilad Paz of VOCE NOVA will perform “Nessun Dorma,” an aria from the opera “Turandot,” followed by “We Are the Champions” to celebrate all the champions who have supported JFS. Paz is a multi-faceted performer with over 25 years of stage experience ranging from rock/pop to musical theater and classical.

Caleb McEwen, artistic director of The Brave New Workshop will serve as the show emcee. McEwen has performed in seven countries and almost all fifty states with The Brave New Workshop, acting as a master of ceremonies, sketch comedy performer, speaker, trainer and improviser.

The show is free and open to the public. Visit jfssp.org/contact-us to request the Zoom link.
