Honoring Our Social Workers

Celebrated each March, National Professional Social Work Month is an opportunity for social workers across the country to turn the spotlight on the profession and highlight the important contributions they make to society.
They confront some of the most challenging issues facing individuals, families, communities and society. “I am sick of being ill.” “I don’t like this place.” “I feel unsafe here.” “I need help with bathing.” “I need a wheelchair.” “I am very depressed about my life.” These are some of the things that social workers help clients with every day. Whether it is providing care coordination, case management, mental health services, or just the daily interaction with each other, social workers do it all. They forge solutions that help people reach their full potential and create a better place to live.
JFS appreciates and is thankful for all our social workers who work with our clients tirelessly every day.
“You will never be bored. You will always be frustrated.
You will be surrounded by challenges. So much to do and so little time.
You will carry immense responsibility and very little authority.
You will step into people’s lives and you will make a difference.
Some will bless you, some will curse you. You will see people at their worst…and their best.
You will never cease to be amazed at people’s capacity for love, courage, and endurance.
You will see life begin…and end. You will experience resounding triumphs and devastating failures.
You will cry a lot, you will laugh a lot. You will know what is to be human and to be humane.”
