JFS Community Chaplain to Lead Medical Ethics Class
JFS Community Chaplain Rabbi Lynn Liberman, BCC, will teach Jewish Medical Ethics: a 21st Century Discussion at Shir Tikvah. The course will be offered each Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30PM January 13 through March 16.
Within the field of ethics, one of the most challenging frontiers is medical ethics. While contemporary medical knowledge preserves life, modern advances have raised moral and ethical issues related to the sanctity and dignity of life – issues whose scope was unimaginable a generation ago. This new ten-lesson Melton course on Jewish Medical Ethics explores Jewish approaches to a number of challenging dilemmas including human cloning, surrogate motherhood, assisted suicide and genetic manipulation.
CEUs are available. The cost is $250 for the series, plus $45 for the printed reader. There are no financial barriers for participation; for more information, please contact Sara Lynn Newberger.
Co-sponsored by Hineni, Shir Tikvah and JFS in conjunction with the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning. Register here.
