Registration is Now Open for Caregiver’s Program

Powerful Tools for Caregivers

JFS is now accepting registration for “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” a six-week educational series that has been shown to have a positive impact on caregiver’s health. Participants will learn self-care behaviors including increased exercise, relaxation and medical check-ups; emotion management to reduce guilt, anger and depression; building self-confidence to cope with care giving demands; and identifying community resources.

Each week caregivers develop a wealth of self-care tools to reduce personal stress and help them take care of themselves while caring for others. Caregivers increase self-confidence, learn to balance their lives, better communicate their feelings and feel empowered to make tough decisions.

The series will be taught by JFS RN Care Manager Bonnie Jaffe. Bonnie has been with JFS since 2008 serving in a variety of roles. Currently, she leads the Senior Care Services program that helps elders age in place with appropriate services in the home. Bonnie also helps individuals and families access funding for home care services through the Claims Conference (Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany).

Each participant will receive a copy of “The Caregiver Helpbook.”

The course will meet each Thursday January 16 through February 20 from 10:30AM to noon at JFS. The cost is $25 per person. To register, call JFS at (651) 698-0767 or email info@jfssp.org and ask to be contacted to register.
