Volunteers Needed – Opportunities Abound!
Are you looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity that will brighten the life of one of our clients while putting a smile on your face? JFS is matching volunteers with clients to help them reconnect with the things that bring them joy. Here are our current opportunities:
Kosher Meals on Wheels Delivery
We are also in search of committed volunteer drivers to deliver meals to seniors in our community through our Kosher Meals on Wheels Program. We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of elders who might otherwise not have access to a hot meal on their own. This is an easy way to make a huge impact on a person’s life, with a minimal time requirement each week.
We are recruiting a team of service-oriented volunteers who can commit to a regular schedule, as well as alternate drivers who can be on call as the need arises. This is a perfect opportunity for couples and families who want to do good together, and are eager to teach their children about the value of serving others.
B’yachad Holiday Gift Bags
To ensure joyous holiday celebrations, JFS provides gifts and holiday foods to our clients, and to families and individuals in need who are referred to our agency. Planning is already underway for the December, 2018 holiday season! Opportunities to get involved range from serving on the Planning Committee to wrapping and delivering packages to our clients. This is a fantastic way to network with and engage in a collaborative effort with volunteers throughout the East Metro community. Join us to make the holidays brighter for those who might otherwise not have the resources to celebrate!
Passover For All
We invite you to participate in this year’s Passover for All event. This annual community outreach effort, in partnership with the Jewish Community Center of St. Paul, provides Kosher for Passover food and supplies to families in need to help them celebrate the holiday.
Help us assemble and deliver over 150 bags to our clients. It’s a simple way for you to meet some of the people who benefit from the services offered by our agency. This is a perfect family mitzvah activity where you can teach the young people in your life about the importance of helping others! Two opportunities to help include bag packing and bag delivery. Russian-speaking volunteers are especially needed!
2019 dates and times coming soon.
Transportation Volunteers provide rides for seniors to medical appointments, grocery stores, hair appointments, and other errands. This volunteer position is a wonderful opportunity to combat the epidemic of loneliness by making a friendly connection with an elder who may feel isolated from the community. Our needs are very flexible and can accommodate your availability. Join our pool of dedicated volunteer drivers and choose your own schedule!
Skill Based Volunteering
Do you have an interest or skill that you can use to assist JFS and our clients? This could include special competencies in community education, technology, language translation, career mentoring, or legal matters. Please let us know so we can make note your special talents when the need arises. We have many opportunities available to do one-time volunteering with clients, on a community conference planning committee, or in the office! We may be able to customize a project just for you!
Currently, volunteers are also needed to:
* Assist with office work
* Create data management tools
* Work with gardening and landscape projects
Please complete and submit the volunteer interest form below to become a volunteer at Jewish Family Service of St. Paul. You can also email Volunteer Engagement Specialist Margie Solomon at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.
