Kever Avot – A Service of Memory

September 12, 2021|10:30 am - 11:00 am

After a long year framed by numerous challenges, for many the death of a loved one marked the most difficult experience of all. Funerals were on ZOOM with very few family members and friends able to attend, making the loss of connection and Jewish ritual especially hard.

Join JFS and Hodroff-Epstein Memorial Chapel for Kever Avot – A Service of Memory on Sunday, September 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel at 126 E. Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis. The program is an opportunity for all to come together in recalling your loved one. Based on the Jewish tradition to visit the graves of our deceased family members in the days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, this brief service will provide a time to reflect upon and remember the lives of those who are no longer with us as well as honor their memory.

Through the sharing of Psalms and traditional prayers, all attendees will have the opportunity to privately recall and hold the treasured memories of those who have died this past year.

Following the service, all attendees will receive traditional ritual items to help them further mark this loss through personal ceremonies with family and friends.

The service will be presented by JFS Community Chaplain Rabbi Lynn Liberman and Volunteer Community Chaplain Cantor Deb Winston in partnership with Hodroff-Epstein Memorial Chapel.

For more information, please contact Rabbi Lynn Liberman at (651) 434-4112 or Hodroff-Epstein at (612) 871-1234.
